Charity Piano Recital at Girton College, Cambridge, in aid of Kharkiv - 22 May 22 at 2:30pm

Updated: May 10, 2022

Dear all,

GéNIA is delighted to announce she will be giving a recital at Girton College, Cambridge in aid of Kharkiv.

As you will no doubt be aware, Kharkiv has been under relentless onslaught by Russian forces in their invasion of Ukraine. There are shortages of medicine, food, and basic care. The city’s infrastructure is constantly being repaired, after being damaged by the Russian army. Many apartments and houses have been destroyed and people have had to flee with nowhere to go. However, many elderly and sick people are unable to travel, and, therefore, they and their families are staying in the city.

As someone who was born in Kharkiv and has many dear friends living there, GéNIA would like to do everything possible to support the citizens of Kharkiv.

Whilst many big international charities provide support across the Ukraine, GéNIA feels that there is a need for localised help, on a simple, practical level. At the moment there is the greatest need for medical supplies, especially for tactical medicine. In the past few days, Kharkiv has come under heavy bombing (as it is positioned to the East of the country where the Russian army is now gathering their forces). Apart from regular rocket attacks, a large number of mines have been scattered on the streets in residential areas, which has made it very dangerous to walk outside. Many civilians have been injured (and some, sadly, killed). There has not been a single day without the city being bombarded since the first day of war (24 February 2022).’

Therefore GéNIA has teamed up with a local charity ‘Kharkiv with You’ (БФ "Харків з тобою") to help its citizens directly.

Kharkiv is a city which gave birth to, and educated many of the world’s most renowned musicians, artists, scientists, doctors, and other professionals. It was one of the most beautiful cities in Ukraine. Kharkiv has contributed vastly to the world, and now it is time for us to give back to it.

All proceeds go to the micro-trust 'Support Kharkiv Foundation' providing direct aid to the City of Kharkiv in Ukraine.

Admission to the concert is by ticket only. The recommended minimum donation of £25 secures a seat in the Stanley Library and admission to a reception with me afterwards. Others will be seated across a corridor in Old Hall with limited sight-lines, but with high-quality video and audio links.

Donations above £25 qualify for Gift Aid on the amount higher than £25, and donations of £100 or more qualify fully for Gift Aid. Please answer the GiftAid(UK) question (where relevant) with either Yes or No, when purchasing your ticket and provide your UK Residential Address.

GiftAid information is collected, processed and securely transferred to GivingWorks in accordance with UK GDPR.

'Support Kharkiv Foundation' is a micro-trust in aid of ‘GivingWorks’, a charity registered in England and Wales, (charity registration no.1078770). It has been created by GéNIA to support the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv and its citizens, as the city has undergone demolition on a large scale.

We look forward to seeing you at the concert!

With love,

Piano-Yoga® Team
