About the Event

A unique chance to immerse yourself in Piano-Yoga® method & try the exercises with founder GéNIA. “It really does work!” Piano Professional

Following the success of Piano-Yoga® workshops, masterclasses and retreats in London, Liverpool, Oxford, Paris, Nice, Nicosia and Los Angeles, GéNIA returns to London with a brand-new Piano-Yoga® workshop programme. Previously hosted by leading organisations and institutions including the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians), EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association), CAPMT (California Association of Professional Music Teachers), De Montfort University, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Schott Music and Steinway & Sons, Piano-Yoga® has attracted professional pianists, piano teachers, conservatoire students and amateur players from around the world.

“With her positive, non-defeatist approach, she emphasises the joy and satisfaction of playing at any level…I would encourage any pianist, amateurs and professionals alike, to sign-up to one of GéNIA’s courses! ” International Piano

“It really does work.” Piano Professional

Based on GéNIA’s acclaimed book Transform Your Hands, the Piano-Yoga® method helps pianists develop their technique rapidly by working with their individual physique. Through exercises that help to develop finger strength, flexibility, hand span, physical freedom and a deeper connection between the mind, body and hands, Piano-Yoga® offers a healthier and more efficient approach to piano playing. It is the only known piano method for safely developing hand span that has been reviewed and approved by leading clinical hand specialist Katherine Butler.

The workshop concludes with a Technique Lab and Masterclass, where participants can bring technical challenges or repertoire and receive practical Piano-Yoga® solutions that can be applied immediately to everyday practice.

Returning to the piano?

Many participants are adults returning to the piano after years — or even decades — away from the instrument. If you have been putting off restarting because you think you will need to spend months rebuilding your technique, Piano-Yoga® offers a different approach.

“After twelve years of not playing... within just a few weeks I was already playing much of my old repertoire again.”

Designed to be highly interactive, participants will be encouraged to try many of the exercises themselves, ask questions throughout and receive practical guidance tailored to their individual needs. Participants who do not wish to perform are very welcome to observe, ask questions and take part in the guided Piano-Yoga® exercises throughout the session.

Taking place in the heart of Kensington, London, on a beautiful Steinway grand piano, the workshop is limited to just 15 participants to ensure individual attention. Early booking is strongly recommended.
