Ukraine London Fundraiser Concert - 30 April 2022 at 8:00pm

GéNIA is delighted to invite you to this eclectic concert which will be dedicated to the support of Ukraine!

100% of proceeds go to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. All proceeds raised will be matched by the UK government. (Please consider adding a further donation at checkout).

GéNIA will be performing in the first part of the show and sharing the night with the artists Alina Bzhezhinska (electric harp) and Julie Walkington (Double Bass) and DJ

presenter Harv-inder Singh from Outernational Sounds. There is a lovely restaurant in the Theatre, so you may like to come early to have a drink and listen to some music performed by DJ Harvinder Singh or book a table to have dinner at their lovely restaurant.

Ukrainian/Polish jazz harpist Alina Bzhezhinska, Kharkiv-born pianist GÉNIA, and double-bassist Julie Walkington perform a special concert in support of Ukraine. Late DJ set from Harv-inder Singh.


Alina Bzhezhinska


Jazz Harpist Alina Bzhezhinska stormed the UK music scene when she and her quartet appeared at the Barbican, receiving a nomination for Best Live Experience of the Year at the 2018 Jazz FM Awards. Her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Inspiration’ (Ubuntu Music) further affirmed her growing reputation, and she has since performed at major venues and festivals around the world.

UK GéNIA was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where she was taught piano by her great-grandmother, the renowned pianist Regina Horowitz. GéNIA made her London debut as a concert pianist in the Park Lane Group Young Artist Series, which was followed by concert tours in the UK, Europe and USA. London performance venues include the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Southbank Centre, Olympia, Kings Place, St.John's Smith Square and St Martin in the Fields. 


An enigma of the music world, concert pianist, composer and educator GéNIA recently enjoyed success with her new compositions by releasing her latest solo piano album ‘Babylon’ alongside several sold-out London shows, whilst her music was featured in the critically acclaimed BBC America TV Series ‘Killing Eve” and the well-known British ITV series ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Close to Me’. The same year she released another solo piano album ‘Memory Waves’ composed especially for the Universal Music Production UK. GéNIA's music and interviews can be heard on Classic FM, Scala Radio, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC London Radio 94.9, London News TV Channel, Talk Radio, BBC Wales Radio, BBC Proms, to name just a few.





Julie Walkington

Julie has been a part of the London jazz scene for over 3 decades and has had the privilege of playing with many wonderful musicians:  Harry Beckett, Jim Mullen, Russ Henderson, Lol Coxhill, Claire Martin, Veryan Weston, Geoff Eales, Ben Clatworthy and Barb Jungr with whom she  recorded and toured with extensively. 


She has recorded, performed and toured with several vocalists Georgia Mancio, Tina May, Shireen Francis and Canadian vocalist Tammy Weis.  

She also works with London jazz choir ‘Take Twenty’ led by Ben Cox.


Julie is currently recording with the piano led FEW Trio  and rehearsing with Moonscape, a chordless quartet,  for dates in 2022, as well as a working on a project with trumpeter/electronics Jim Howard.  She has toured and recorded with Alina Bzhezhinska on several occasions.
